The 52 Pueblo Bishop Bloods trace their origins back to the early 1950s in Los Santos, where they were originally known as the Pueblo Hustlers. Specifically rooted in the Pueblo Bishop Projects, in the southeastern part of the Los Santos, also known as the low bottoms.

During the early 1970s, the new gang identity was forged creating the Pueblo Bishops establishing their close ties with the 92 Bishops in Watts led by Jimmy Foye. During this time, the Eastside Crips were establishing themselves in various areas of the Eastside and clashes between the Crips and the Pueblo Bishops occurred at Wilson Junior High School. Historically, the 52 Pueblo Bishop Bloods have had fierce rivalries with nearby sets attempting to encroach on their territory, notably clashing with sets such as East Coast Crips, and 4 pac Gangster Crips.

When the conflict grew during the middle 1970s, the Pueblo Bishops added “Blood” to the name (circa 1978) and actively fought against all Crips in the area of the Projects. They became known as the 52 Pueblo Bishop Bloods and they even created another identity known as the Mid City Gangsters.
